Target Audience: Sign Language Interpreters, Interpreter Educators, Mentors, ITP Students, HR Professionals and Deaf Professionals.

Workshop/Course Description: This self-paced asynchronous micro-learning activity focuses on Tenet 1: Confidentiality in the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and examines how seemingly harmless details can become identified when shared within professional or community networks. Participants will analyze scenarios involving post-assignment discussion, contextual disclosure, mandated reporting, and professional consultation. The activity emphasizes interpreters’ responsibility to safeguard all assignment-related information, including contextual details that could allow others to deduce participant identities. Through applied ethical analysis, participants will strengthen decision-making skills related to confidentiality, consultation, and legal reporting obligations.

Educational Objectives (Measurable and Observable): Participants will be able to identify scenarios that constitute a violation of Tenet 1: Confidentiality as a result of this micro-learning activity. Participants will be able to describe how contextual information can become identifying even when names are not disclosed as a result of this micro-learning activity. Participants will be able to apply CPC confidentiality standards when determining what information may be shared for supervision, mentoring, or legal reporting as a result of this micro-learning activity.

Media/Materials: CEUs PDQ learning platform (web-based LMS) with embedded instructional video, reading reference, multiple-choice knowledge check, and structured reflection prompts.

Evaluation & Assessment: Participants will be required to complete the instructional materials, answer a multiple-choice knowledge check, and complete short-response reflection prompts demonstrating having read or viewed and applied the material.
