This presentation will provide an overview of ASL linguistics to include information on the basics of linguistics; phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics.
Participants will be able to differentiate between linguistic aspects of ASL and English.
Participants will be able to identify:
- The phonological units of a sound/sign
- Morphological, meaningful units of sound/sign
- Syntactical orders of a language
- Semantics and pragmatics
To obtain CEU credit, the mandatory activities will ask for you to answer some multiple-choice questions, and complete several short-answer activities on the 5 parameters of ASL.
