As interpreters, we must focus holistically on the overall process (product) while also attending to numerous discrete components of the process. One of the components of the process includes rendering messages from ASL to English. As we attempt to further analyze this component, there is an aspect of production apart from the message analysis which encompasses vocal production, word choices, confidence, gender issues, etc.

This WWWorkshop highlights the norms of male and female speech interactions. Speech behaviors in mixed-sex interactions can be oppressive, vague, or self-deprecating. Participants will also learn vocal techniques that can improve confidence and projection in their mental/vocal instrument. Turn inherent or inherited speech norms into Power "Full" tools for interpreting professionally and interacting personally.

To obtain CEU credit, the mandatory activities will ask for you to answer multiple-choice questions and self-analyze your preconceptions.

This workshop is presented in ASL.
